These are the numbers and the stopping placet of the Arktos expedition (from the greek, Bear), sponsorshipped also by the Officine Panerai, that Mike Horn has passed with success.
Goal: The crossing of the Arctic Polar Circle, mainly on foot and with the only sledge; Cost: 1 million Euro; Km runs: 20,000 km on the Arctic Polar Circle, whose 10,000 in Siberia-Russia; Km 58: The max daily crossing, dragging the sledge; 200 Kg: The max load carried on the sledge, at the departure; Equipment: Sky, sledge, kite, sailing boat, trimaran, bicycle and … a Panerai watch; - 70° C / + 30°C: The extreme temperatures registered during the travel. Mike Horn say, in the interview with Panorama: ‘At - 70° C the electronic equipment are frozen and the only object that is well working was my Panerai watch’. OP VIII, black dial with small seconds at 9 o’ clock, date, 24-hour indication on the edge and second time hand. Bezel with four index and the four cardinal points engraved, case-back with the logo of the Arktos expedition, like in the ref. Pam 92, L. Amagnetic-Arktos (2004) and adjustable clasp. Available in 500 units (2005) at 7,000 $.
Pam 252, Luminor North Pole Gmt, Special Edition-2006, with rubber strap and brushed steel case. Aut. mov., cal. OP VIII, blue dial with small seconds at 9 o’ clock, date, 24-hour indication on the edge and second time hand. Bezel with four index and the four cardinal points engraved, case-back with the drawing of the artic polar cap, the path of the expedition and the signature of Mike Horn and adjustable clasp. Available in 500 units (2006) at 5,900.00 Euro.

Chronology: 4th august 2002: Depart from Cape North (Norway) with the 14 metres aluminium sailing boat Arktos, with the arrival in the 17th august in Greenland (Danemark); 26th august 2002: Start the crossing of the Greenland on foot, with the sledge, the sky and the kite used with the new windsurfs; 22 september 2002: Crossing of the strait of Davis with the boat, for arriving to the island of Baffin (Canada), the 30th september 2002; 26th november 2002: Start the crossing of the Canada, for arriving the 29th june 2003 to the border with the Alaska (Usa); 29th june 2003: Depart with the kayak and the 8 metres trimaran Corsair, for arriving the 13th august 2003 on the west coast of the Alaska; 21st august 2003: Crossing of the strait of Bering, with the trimaran, for arriving in Siberia (Russia) the 27th august 2003; 17th december 2003: Start the crossing of the Siberia with the sledge and the sky, for arriving first at Noril’sk the 6th june 2004 and then at Tobseda, ever in Siberia; 5th september 2004: Depart from Tobseda fist with the trimaran and then with the bicycle, for arriving, again at Cape North, the 21st october 2004.
